NAU MAI, HAERE MAI KI PUKEHOU MARAE

WELCOME TO PUKEHOU MARAE
Pukehou Marae is situated south of Hastings on State Highway Two (SH2) on the boundary between the Central Hawkes Bay and Hastings District Councils.
The wider Pukehou district was traditionally characterised by a series of lakes known to Māori as Ngā Puna-a-Tara.
The lakes Poukawa, Roto-a-Kiwa and Roto-a-Tara were originally discovered and named by Tara around the year 1200.
The marae is situated on the Papa-aruhe land block, part of which was set aside in 1946 as a meeting place for the use of the descendants of Renata Pukututu by his mokopuna Te Kikiri-o-Te-Rangi NiaNia, Renata Kereama, Arapata Renata, Pita Te Ruihi and Pirihira Heketa.
